Rehearsals and Performance – June 2021 Update
Back to live rehearsals from Tuesday 22 June!
We are planning a ticketed concert on Sunday 3 October. We are still awaiting confirmation as to venue and will update as soon as details are available. The performance will include items from Handel’s ‘Acis and Galatea’ and a range of other shorter works by composers including Haydn, Parry, Puccini and Fauré.
The following rehearsal arrangements have been set up in preparation:Following the Department of Culture, Media and Sport advice that amateur choirs (of any size) can rehearse indoors if they are preparing for a commercial event (we are planning a “ticketed” concert on Sunday 3 October.)
We will start rehearsing live from Tuesday 22 June, and will rehearse again on 29 June, 6 July and 13 July. We are also keeping open the option of a ‘run through’ of all the music on 20 July before breaking for the summer. All these four rehearsals will be at St Swithun’s, Hither Green Lane, London SE13 6QE. Their website has more about the church, which is on the corner of Hither Green Lane and St Swithun’s Road. Parking is free in local streets after 19.00: https://www.saintswithuns.org.uk/
These rehearsals will start at 7.30 for 7.45 pm. We will break for 5 minutes in the middle and participants should bring their own tea, coffee etc if needed. They should also bring their own copy of Acis and Galatea and the music from the workshops. We will still, of course, follow the requirements on social distancing, sanitisation, checking attendance, ventilation and face coverings, and our risk assessment remains in force
These rehearsals will be recorded and made available on YouTube.
We will resume rehearsals on Tuesday 7 September. Full details are still subject to confirmation, but we plan to return to our normal venue, St Margaret’s, Lee Terrace SE13 5DL, using either the nearby Kingswood Halls or the church itself.
